THE YACOUBIAN BUILDING, CAIRO
The hostel we stayed in was in this amazing building.
In 2006 'The Yacoubian Building' (the film version of the book by Alaa al Aswan http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2007/feb/17/fiction.featuresreviews) by Marwan Hamed was set there.
